A Thousand Reasons - Fragments

Simone “zimon” Sut is the sole creator of the darkwave/ ambience that is A thousand Reasons. This is not just music but a sonic soundtrack through soundscapes of the internal and external. It is introspective yet all encompassing, darkness and light, from the organic to the fantastic. The end result is the indefinable yet superb Fragments.

‘’Yes, it is my latest album, at the beginning of 2024 I started to work on new materials, and I still have one song not released done in collaboration with Defektoscope for the Cult, so I decided to put together other songs in collaboration with other artists and made an album, for me is a great album because I started this journey into this new music without any sort of prospective, and I had the opportunity to work with great artists.

Was it an album that came together easily or did it take some time to manifest?

‘’At the beginning was quite difficult put down some ideas that I had in my mind, because is different than playing bass in metal/rock bands 😊 but step by step I found my own process during the production of the songs.

The overall arc within the album?  It is a sonic journey that is as beautiful as it is dark?

‘’Yes, especially for this one, it was cool to see how the songs evolved, from my first idea to the new one by the collaborators.

‘The almost ritualistic elements of your dark ambience? A force of nature that reveals itself when you create?

When I create my songs, I start from some ideas that I have in mind and go through it and evolve it, using synths/keyboards and sounds from space, sometimes is like to create an artwork from a white paper.

The use of minimalism is as important as the more sonic moments?

‘’I think it depends on the vibes of the songs; it is cool to use them together too on the same song.

It is incredibly expressive. Sometimes less is more?

‘’As above, I think it depends on the vibes of the song, and what you want to express.

Are they opposing forces or a symbiosis of emotions that traverse the album?

‘’This album is a mix of ideas, the first 3 songs are composed together with other artists, meanwhile the second part are the songs where is started the collaboration, and it is cool to hear the evolution of them.

The concepts are divergent are they drawn from worldly influences, or a train of thought/expression manifested?

‘’This album is quite different from the other 2, it is a mix of my ideas as dark ambient tracks where the other artists taken it and evolved with their own vibes and moods.

What led you to take this path musically? A desire to create something undefinable?

‘’After many years playing bass in different bands, from metal to rock, I like also industrial/electronic music like Front Line Assembly, Gary Numan, John Carpenter, so I decided to create something new and different, all is started during the 2020's lockdown, with no possibility to play live or rehearsal, so I started to play keyboards by myself at home.

What do you listen to explore such ideas?

‘’I like to listen Industrial music, watch horror/sci-fi movies with good soundtracks, and read books of Stephen King or Lovecraft

Top six albums of all time?
